Ellie was born in Michigan in 1972 and was raised in the Midwest. She studied architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology and also received a BA from Robert Morris College in Chicago, Illinois.
Ellie spent 12 years in Chicago before moving to Portland, Oregon which is now her home base, although she is a frequent international traveler. She has exhibited work locally in Portland and internationally in Melbourne, Australia. Currently she is showing work at Cube Gallery located at 4136 SE Hawthorne.
Her current work represents beauty found in surprising places. She finds beauty in a single curve, a color, a paint chip, or simply by looking at the everyday with a different perspective. Ellie’s images reveal beauty otherwise unseen and capture the soul of the moment.
Ellie’s other love is portrait photography. Just as she captures the soul of the moment in her fine art photography, she captures the essence of a person in her portrait photography. She prefers to work with clients in their home environment or outdoors in order to capture un-staged images.
Ellie is a member of Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association (PMPA) and The Center for Fine Art Photography and has work published in "Australian Photography", "SELF Magazine", and "The Oregon Distance Runner".
